...Three sons of Ezekiel Noble 1787/MA-1856/NY & Theodocia Bates 1789/MA-1869/Fayette.IA, came very early in the history of Fayette Co, Iowa. 
...John Ezekiel (1823/NY-1899/Fayette) and Harvey Sylvester (1825/NY-1857/Fayette) arrived in 1854, settling in Albany.
...Robert Delano (1828/NY-1883/Fayette) came a year later in 1855.
...All three families lived together in Albany before moving to newly platted Fayette about 1956.
...Robert worked as a chair maker the first couple of years with the 'Albany Chair Factory.'
...John and Harvey were farmers and blacksmiths in the Albany area.
...About 1856, as Fayette village was platted, on the NW corner of Water/Washington Streets,
...John and Harvey built one of the first log homes and blacksmith shops in the Fayette plat.
...Harvey would die in 1857 or within a year plus of the start of the Fayette blacksmith shop. 
...A blacksmith shop generally required two or more smiths. 
...About 1857/58 Jonathan Knight would travel from his farm in sec 2, Smithfield to partner with John Noble.
...John Noble would go on to be known as the 'Village Blacksmith' with a shop next to the SE corner of the Volga Bridge, with his son.
...Jonathan Knight and Sons, would go on to have a major wagon making and blacksmith shop at the NW end of Washington St.
...John Noble and the Knight's shops/businesses were back to back with each other for the rest of the 1800's.
...Robert Delano Noble came to Fayette with his brother and remained a Fayette chair maker, carpenter, cabinet maker the rest of his life..
...The Noble's were blacksmiths, woodworkers, craftsman, merchants, farmers and one of the important first pioneers.
...From Fayette the offspring of this Noble family would spread to West Union, Oelwein and west.

Fayette, Iowa, 1870+ years.  The area near the Volga River was the location of the major pioneer 'industry,'
until the rails came in 1874+, and the depot located at the south end of town.
